Chop and change

Our house has gone through quite a few facelifts over the years. Some good, and some bad. The worst was definitely when my mum decided to get our house painted bright orange! I have no idea what she was thinking. I think she must have seen it in some magazine somewhere and thought it was a good idea. It’s not the first time that she’s done anything like that either! I remember once she hired the best interior painter close to Melbourne just to get them to paint every wall in the house a different colour. It honestly felt like I was living in a giant board game. It looked awful. Actually, it looked cool, but it was just too much and I found I couldn’t relax. Then again, how can you relax when you enter a room and it’s got walls that are red, yellow, green, and pink. It made no sense! She thought it was a great idea at the time until she read something in a magazine that completely tore the idea to shreds. She couldn’t have called the painters any quicker that day!

Her new thing is wanting to paint the exterior of our house white, again. The exterior of our house has been painted white three times and whenever she does this, she ends up painting over the white two years later because she finds it boring. Not that I’d point this out to her, but the white would also show up a lot of dirt that would be dragged in from the rain or from high winds. I’m pretty sure she has the exterior house painters on speed dial in her phone for whenever she has a paint emergency. Hey, I guess that’s what I get for having a mother who is a creative soul and a Gemini. She’s never content with one thing. She’s always looking for ways to make things look new and different. It’s the same with her wardrobe. She’s had hundreds of numerous styles in the last twenty years. I guess that’s just her though, and I’ll always love her for it!
