Never in my wildest dreams – and I have had some pretty wild dreams – did I think that I would even end up winning the lottery. Well, here I am. If someone told me a week ago that I’d now be sitting on a pot of five million dollars, I would not have believed them. I’ve never been one to take part in the lottery, but after noticing the same pattern of numbers following me around for days in a row, I took it as a sign. I’m not a spiritual person, but something out there must have been watching over me to make me the sole winner of such a huge sum of money. Most of the country was in the draw to win!
As I’ve never left the country or owned a new home, I think it’s safe to say that I know what my first two expenses will be: an around-the-world trip and purchasing myself a home. I don’t plan on purchasing any old home. I plan on building. I want to hire the best luxury builders. Mornington Peninsula always seemed like an area out of reach for me, but it’s not now. As a child, I would drive down to the Mornington Peninsula and admire all the beachfront homes that sat atop cliffs and mountains. I wish I could go back and tell my twelve-year-old self that someday she too would have a home like the ones she would always admire. To be honest, a twelve-year-old me would probably punch me. She was a little rebel without a cause who had been dealt a hard hand in life. Now, she’s a multimillionaire talking to house-building companies and collaborating together to craft the house of her dreams.
A part of me almost feels like a fraud having this amount of money now. I’ve never had money in my life. I was always scrounging to get by. Now, I can live a whole lifetime free to do whatever I want, when I want.
