That Bug Show

You know what was great, and something I really miss? That show about the people flying around in the airship, fighting infestations of evil bugs. Yeah, that was cool. I liked how each episode was very clearly from one person’s perspective, you got to know the characters…just a good show overall. Not afraid to be a little bit ‘out there’ in its concept. It’s been almost five years since it went off the air, and still no DVD releases.

I think about it a lot, though. Just the other day I got a call for some people down in Berwick, pest control was on their mind. Such is my job, I had to find them a really good pest control company. Property management and all that. But suddenly all these memories came rushing back, because pest controllers deal with bugs, and the people on the show dealt with bugs, and wow that was such a good show.

It was made and set in Australia as well, a rarity for the time. So they could have been Berwick pest control experts…you don’t know. Maybe an evil alien bug could’ve crawled out around Berwick and they could’ve dealt with it in their usual bombastic way. I’m not saying it was true to life and the real exploits of pest professionals, but I’ve never done pest control, so I can’t say.

Such a good show. I liked the part where the one guy grew bombardier beetle arms and could blast acid fire. Like, a real struggle between wielding a powerful weapon and becoming the thing you hate. Okay, so maybe this was a little bit too out there to represent real experts in pest control. Pakenham isn’t going to be busting out the cannons any time soon. But that’s fair enough, because they’re working in people’s flammable homes, and the other guys were…in the sky. On an airship. Man, that was a cool airship. All pest inspection companies should have an airship.
